Eleanor Holmes Norton is reuniting with ‘nemesis’ Stephen Colbert

Stephen Colbert has dropped the right-wing pose and abandoned Comedy Central for CBS. But it appears he is still willing to tangle with D.C. Del. Eleanor Holmes Norton (D), a “Colbert Report” regular who will reunite with the late-night host at his new television address Friday night.

Norton, who famously sparred with Colbert — who was born in the District — over D.C. voting rights, will appear weeks ahead of a ballot initiative that aims to make the city a state.

“At last I get to see my old ‘nemesis,’ Stephen Colbert, on his new show, despite having left his old persona at Comedy Central, where we got to be good frenemies,” Norton said in a statement. “Colbert brought unparalleled attention to the District’s struggle for equality, and I look forward to reminding him that our fight for statehood and full voting rights goes on today, even without his old character.”

Norton will appear on the show with actress Joy Bryant, who portrays her in the forthcoming Amazon series “Good Girls Revolt.” The show dramatizes the story of female employees at Newsweek whom Norton represented in a lawsuit filed in 1970 alleging discriminatory hiring policies.

“The ‘Good Girls Revolt’ story of the courageous young Newsweek women who exposed discrimination will give Colbert and his TV audience something to cheer about,” Norton said.
